Tui Na: Therapeutic Chinese Massage & Reiki Healing

What is Tui Na?

Tui Na means 'push-and-grasp' and is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage) has been practiced in China for more than 4000 years. Tui Na dates back to the Shang Dynasty of China, 1700 B.C.E. In the West, it is becoming increasing popular as people are beginning to recognise the benefits, along with Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine.

Tui Na works to balance the flow of Qi (pronounced "chee") around the body. Qi is the vital life force energy which permeates throughout the whole universe. In our body, this Qi flows within Channels and Meridian supplying energy to all the body's vital organs and tissues.

By applying pressure to specific points or Acupressure, along these meridians, the flow of Qi is changed so that it can move freely throughout the body. Distribution of Qi throughout the body has a profound effect on your emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical wellbeing.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), ill health is seen as a pattern of disharmony resulting from various internal and external causes. Tui Na seeks to restore harmony and health to the body in a holistic, multi-dimensional way.
